利用现代分子育种技术与常规育种技术相结合,培育兼顾抗病虫、耐盐碱、耐高温、耐淹和高产优质等特性适宜华南稻区的节水抗旱稻新种质和新品种。

主要成果:
主持选育了旱优56、旱两优8209、旱两优8号、旱优549、WDR48、沪旱61等节水抗旱稻新品种并通过国家或省市审定,主持获得旱恢53、旱恢54、旱优217等植物新品种权20项。2014年获江西省自然科学奖二等奖1项,2010年获上海市技术发明奖一等奖1项,2005上海市科技进步奖一等奖1项。
